    YEAR 5 - BIKEABILITY

    Dear Parent/Carer of a Year 5 child

We are pleased to advise that we are able to offer your child the fantastic opportunity to take part in a Bikeability cycle training course. This will take place at our school on 4 consecutive half days from 6th May to 10th May 2024.

This course is designed to give our children the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’s roads. It is for children who can already ride a bike confidently, they should be able to balance unaided as a minimum.

Each course costs over £50 per child to provide. However, due to the help of funding, we are fortunate enough to be able to offer the course free of charge to each participating child. IF YOUR CHILD HAS ALREADY COMPLETED THE BIKEABILITY COURSE, THEY CANNOT DO IT AGAIN ON THIS OCCASION.

If your child wishes to use their own bike (preferred) it MUST be road worthy with suitable brakes. Alternatively, the Bikeability delivery team have got a limited number of bikes and helmets available to borrow if your child has not got access to a roadworthy bike. Please indicate on the permission slip that your child is bringing home if you wish to borrow a bike/helmet

You child will be bringing a paper copy home of the attached paperwork today. As the number of places available are limited, please complete the paperwork and return it to school by Wednesday 24th April If you wish for your child to be considered for a place on this course.

    Thank you in anticipation.

Family Reading is back!! Family Reading is to take place on Thursday mornings starting on 14th September. We encourage as many parents, carers and grandparents to come in to school to enjoy a book with the children for the first 20 minutes of the day/session (8.40-9.00am for most families). Please come along to read to your little one and their friends – it could be a story book, a quiz, some poetry or a magazine. Every week, we will put the children’s names are into a hat and a prize of a book and chocolates can be won. If you have more than one child, simply pick a classroom and take all the children along together. Don’t worry if you’re a parent who works on Wednesday morning, as at the end of each term we will do a special prize draw for all the children who read regularly with parents at home and who fill in their reading records.
