Dear Parents and Carers,

We can’t believe how quickly this half term has flown by! We are now just a couple of weeks away from our Early Literacy Parent Event, taking place on Friday 6th February, and we would love to welcome you into school to learn alongside your child.

This event is a great opportunity for you to find out more about how children in FS1 begin their journey with reading and writing. During the session, you will take part in a range of activities with your child that show how early literacy skills develop in FS1.

We will explore how writing skills start long before children begin to hold a pencil, and how we carefully plan activities and interventions to support the development of both gross and fine motor skills. We hope this session will help you better understand how children learn to read and write, and give you ideas to support learning at home.

As always, access to the event will be via the Nursery gate, with entry from the Wells Lane (car park) side of the school only. Please see the start times below for your child’s group and arrive on time so the session can begin smoothly:

• Morning-only FS1 children: 10:30am - 11:15am
• Afternoon-only FS1 children and 30-hour FS1 children: 2:00pm - 2:45pm
