PARKING AND SAFETY7 October 2025 (by Laurabeth Fitzakerley (laurabethf)) |
Safety concerns have been passed on to school regarding Hough Lane and the blatant lack of consideration for the School Crossing Patrol. When dropping off or collecting children, can parents ensure that they do not park too close to the school crossing and show respect to the warden when they are working to get our children across the road safely. Parking too close obscures vision and means people are stepping onto the road close to moving traffic.
We have had reports of a near miss where crossing patrol was assisting a parent and a driver began reversing, almost hitting them.
Can we ask you to be mindful of other road users and of pedestrians trying to cross the road safely. If this lack of consideration continues, we will request a police presence to monitor this behaviour.
This also applies to the Wells Lane side of the school. We are just trying to keep our children safe.
Thank you for your co-operation.
