MISS ADDISON, MR HANNAN & MISS MULLIGAN
Hello Year 5,
I hope that you're all settling into learning at home. We've been settling in ourselves and working hard to provide you with new, fun and interesting ways to learn. This is a big change for you all and we aren't expecting you to work all day- or even every day- but we want to provide you with opportunities to learn independently when we can. Keep working through your homework packs but check back here, when you can, for more ideas and inspiration. If it's possible, please send any completed work that you'd like to share to firstname.lastname@example.org.
To start with, I would like to invite you all to take part in our special "7 DAYS OF DRAWING" challenge. Of course, it doesn't have to be drawing- you could use paints, sculpture or pencils to take part. The idea is that you create a piece of artwork every day for 7 days and each will be of something new. Feel free to interpret each day however you wish and to be creative and inventive. You can start this challenge whenever you want but please keep your work because we can't wait to see it when we return.
Day 1 : Your favourite chair
Day 2 : A stack of books
Day 3: Your comfiest shoes
Day 4: The most delicious food
Day 5: Your favourite film
Day 6: A selfie
Day 7: The most interesting thing in your house
I hope that you all enjoy getting creative. See you soon!
Now would be a great time to practise your spellings for this year- you'll all be needing them for year 6! You can download this list below to help you. Why don't you try practising these spellings in one of these new and interesting ways?
- Make a spelling word origami fortune teller
- Make the words out of scrabble letters
- Create your own crossword puzzle or word search
- Use paint or chalk
- Text the words to your friends and try to use them in sentences
- Write a spelling word song
- Play hangman
- Put them in alphabetical order
Remember you can ask your parents to share what you have been doing on the Kings Oak PLC Facebook site.
Since we're having such lovely weather, I thought it would be a good opportunity to get active and enjoy some fresh air. Knowing this lovely English weather, it probably won't last long so I've uploaded an alphabet exercise challenge which can be done both inside and outside. Have a read of the challenge and have a go! You can do the challenge as many times as you like using different words. Remember: the longer the word, the greater the challenge!
Just to let you all know, Time Tables Rock Stars also have a learning platform called Numbots that helps you to practise your numeracy skills. All you need to do is search for the Numbots website through a search engine and type in our school name and then use your existing Time Tables Rock Stars login. The story mode starts off very easy but then gets harder.
I hope you're all staying safe at home! Well done to all of you who have completed lots of home learning already, I can see many of you have! I have attached some more maths work below, there is lots to do and it has some answers so you can see how you're getting on. Keep working hard, we miss you all very much!

We have had some feedback from parents that there are some difficulties when working with the power points at home. We are going to upload the power points as PDFs as well to help with this. If anyone is having any other problems, please let us know by email (email@example.com) and we will try to help in any way we can. We really appreciate all your efforts in home schooling at this difficult time and want to support families and the children in any way we can.
